Rural Registered Nursing Degree Program – Starting September 2021

We are excited to announce that, for the first time, Alberta Health Services in collaboration with the University of Calgary is providing the opportunity to get an undergraduate nursing degree in Wainwright!

Through the Rural Registered Nursing Degree Program, Wainwright and area residents interested in earning a university degree to become a registered nurse may do so without leaving their home community.

This pilot project will have students starting in September 2021. Space is limited to eight students per year from Wainwright and surrounding communities within a 120km radius. The application deadline was April 30, 2021.

Health Care Aide Program – January 2021 to August 2021

We are excited to announce that Medicine Hat College is partnering with Alberta Health Services, Wainwright Economic Development and Adult Learning to bring their Health Care Aide Certificate program to Wainwright in January 2021 through August 2021.

Please view our FAQ or the Health Care Aide Information Package for details. The deadline for applications is December 20th. A minimum of 8 students is required.  Coursework will be online with labs being conducted at the Wainwright Health Centre (Hospital) and practicums done in the region.

Jaws Safety in Wainwright does offer First Aid/CPR training which is required before starting this program.
