Installation of Street Light-Mounted Wireless Internet Hotspots Ongoing

Over the next several weeks, residents may notice work taking place on select street lights throughout the townsite.

Crews from Alberta-based internet provider MCSnet and electricity distributor FortisAlberta will be installing wireless internet access points to the top of the lights, leveraging the existing power supply.

The strategic placement of these white, square-shaped devices allows for broader coverage and improved signal strength for wireless internet. These devices are not equipped with cameras or any other function.

This is the second and final round of installation and follows up on previous work completed in 2024. Installation is expected to be completed later this spring or summer.
