Public Hearing Notice - Establishment of School and Playground Areas and Zones Policy

NOTICE

The Town of Wainwright in the Province of Alberta, proposes Bylaw 2024-10 to provide for the regulation, control, and management of vehicle traffic in playground zones on highways within the town. The Town of Wainwright desires to establish the following highways as a Playground Zone and will follow the regulations set out in the Establishment of School and Playground Areas and Zones Policy: 

•  25^th Street (from 6^th Avenue to 8^th Avenue)
  •     Not including the intersection at 25^th Street and 8^th Avenue
  •     Including the intersection at 25^th Street and 6^th Avenue
  •     Including the intersection at 25^th Street and 7^th Avenue

•  6th Avenue (from 25^th Street to 27^th Street)
    Not including the intersection at 27^th Street and 6^th Avenue

All streets at the above-mentioned highways will have traffic control devices at the appropriate locations displaying the zones and speed limits. 

A Public Hearing will be held in Town Council Chambers (1018–2^nd Avenue) at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 17^th, 2024 where persons claiming to be affected by this change may voice their concerns. Concerns may also be expressed through written submissions mailed or delivered to the Town Office at 1018–2^nd Avenue Wainwright, AB T9W 1R1 Attn: Scott Flett or presented at the public hearing. Written submissions must be received before or at the public hearing in order to be considered. Copies of the proposed Bylaw 2024-10 and the Establishment of School and Playground Areas and Zones Policy 2010-10 may be viewed on the Town’s website or at the Town Office during normal business hours.
