Utility Deferral March 18, 2020 – June 18, 2020

Utility Bill for Gas, Water, Sewer, Garbage, Recycling & Stormwater

The Government of Alberta recently announced a 90-Day Utility Payment Deferral Program.  Please note that this is a deferral (postponement) program – all utility bills must still be paid in full by the consumer.  The deferral (postponement) program is meant to provide temporary financial relief.

Full details are yet to be announced, but this program provides an option for residential, farm and small commercial customers who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 to defer the payment of their utility bills for up to 90 days.

In order for Town of Wainwright customers to qualify for the deferral program, they must first contact the utility department at utilities@wainwright.ca or call 780-842-3381 to make a formal request.

Prior to accepting a customer’s request, the following questions will be asked:

  1. Are you a residential, farm or small commercial customer?
  2. Are you experiencing financial hardship as a direct result of COVID-19, such as loss of employment or having to leave work to care for an ill family member?

We encourage consumers to make partial payments in order to avoid the compounding effect of future bills.
